Another first from Asus has hit the streets with the release of the long awaited Asus Eee PC T91, in what will possibly be followed by a new breed of convertible tablet netbooks. What's all the fuss about? Is it really that good? Does it live up to the expectations? Here's a quick summary of the news, reviews, and opinions about the Eee PC T91 after a couple of days in the wild...

Amazon.com finally had the Asus T91 on sale after a false start a few days ago for US $499 but stocks lasted for only a few hours (click here to see the current status on Amazon.com). Asus North America did warn their Twitter followers that buyers should be quick because the T91 will only be available in "limited quantity" on the 15th of July (see the Tweet from ASUS_NA here).

Based on my observation, so far only the Black model was available in stores, and in all the reviews published in the last couple of days. There will be a White one (with black tones) available eventually. It is also worth mentioning that this is the first of 3 different versions of the T91, with the T91A and T91Go (and maybe others) coming out later this year. This first model lacks multi-touch, 3G, GPS, and TV tuner, but does have 52GB Hybrid Storage (16GB SSD + 16GB SD Card + 20GB Eee online Storage), as well as Bluetooth v2.1 and Wi-Fi 802.1 b/g/n.

Several reviews have already been published by some that were lucky enough to get their hands on one of these new touch sensitive tablet netbooks as soon as they appeared. Their reactions and opinions varied, as one would expect, but here are some highlights:
